Sisterhood
Sisterhood
The Adath Israel Sisterhood, affiliated with the Women’s League of Conservative Judaism, brings together women of our congregation for mitzvot, spiritual growth, learning and activities. Our mission is to connect our congregation’s multiple generations of women to the synagogue through a variety of programs and volunteer opportunities.
In the fall and spring, we hold a gathering to mark the beginning and the end of our programming year. This past fall, a panel of Sisterhood members discussed the joys and challenges in pursuing careers, managing transitions, and trying to "make it work" in all aspects of their lives as part of an event entitled "Women Empowering Women."
Several times throughout the year, the women of our community gather in a member's home to honor Rosh Chodesh, the start of each new Hebrew month. An educator leads us in a thought-provoking discussion while we enjoy light refreshments. Past topics have included "The Torah of Brokenness and Beauty" and "KonMari Meets Passover: Redemption Through Introspection."
Our Sisterhood partners with the Women's League for Conservative Judaism to support the Torah Fund campaign. Benefactors support the future of Conservative Judaism and, each year, receive a pin or pendant featuring a design based on a new Jewish theme.
